My work is inspired by many things, especially pattern and form found in the natural world. I try to spend some time travelling during the year, which lends an eclectic element to my work. My designs often develop organically, which leads to an individual and unusual style.

I like to explore various textures and colours, and often use contrasting matt and polished finishes, or silver and gold together. Each piece spends a good deal of time being worked, scrutinised and reworked in order to produce a piece that is of the highest quality and finish I can achieve. My aim is to make great quality, distinctive jewellery that looks and feels good to wear.

Hallmarking

The first symbol of the hallmark is the individual sponsors (makers) mark. Each sponsor’s mark is unique and provides a traceable link to the source of a piece of jewellery. A sponsor’s mark comprises of the initials of the person who made it. Mine is LAF, which is then followed by the fineness marks, the Assay Office Mark and the date letter.

All my jewellery is hallmarked by the London Assay Office*

*Articles under a certain weight are exempt from hallmarking, in the case of silver 7.78 grams, and gold 1.0 gram.

In practical terms, this means that unless an article is below the exemption weight (such as earrings, or a light pendant) it will be hallmarked by the London Assay Office.
